Blog 3

The article I decided to pick is "BREAKING: Beto 2020 Is Officially Here " rather than selecting from a Left-leaning (liberal) blog I chose from the opposing viewpoint to get a Right-leaning (conservative) opinion. The intended audience is Republicans since the website I went to is Right-leaning, but the topic is about a Democrat running for president. Joe Cunningham's credibility is average with having many other articles on Red State with right-leaning views on issues. Reading his article, I can point out many biases words he used trying to put down Beto O'Rourke. Comments like "the U.S. Senate candidate who failed to unseat Senate Ted Cruz, has decided that he’s gotten enough media profiles to officially announce a bid for President of the United States."  he uses the word fail throughout the article to make him look inadequate for the position, a total bias view on someone taking on the enormous responsibility of running for president. Calling him "young and hip Texas Democrat" like a backhanded compliment. Joe Cunningham continues to mention twice about Beto O'Rourke that he will have trouble in the "Democratic field of mostly people who have actually won the U.S. Senate races" and "The struggle will, of course, be actually competing in a field against people who have actually won major campaigns and also didn’t just rise to stardom in the last couple of years."  Stardom has no effect on politics he started on the El Paso council in 2005 while Trump only got his foot in the door of politics in 2016 when he ran for president and happened to won. Even though this is a right-leaning view, I think Joe could have done a better job on his article, and he did not have to belittle Beto. I disagree with his logic because he took time out to try and make Beto seem like he is not good enough to run for president, but this author does not influence Beto's career. Joe compares Beto to Stacey Abrams who lost the Senate race and who may run for president as well. Choosing from a Conservative view was interesting on discussing a Democrat running for president because it was such a biased view.
